Texicon is one month away! It is hard to believe that I started this project in December & still have more terrain to build & a few more figures to paint.
I received 2 new distractions since my last post. One of them fits into my Texicon game. Hinterland released female Askaris. Now the players will have the options of playing female British Sailors, French Colonial Marines, Askaris, or female Askari units.

The only way for the players to lose in my game is if Alice Edwina Georgette Hires Kingsley, Lady Hamilton, is killed, captured or flees into the jungle. She’s a royal cousin. It just wouldn’t do for the papers to report that the Queen’s niece & cousin of the Prince of Wales (soon to be King of England) was killed while on safari.

Now for the other distraction. I’ve already started thinking about next year’s Texicon. There have always been a lot of Zombie & WWII games at Texicon. Battletech is always popular & there are usually a few other Sci-Fi games. But do you know what I’ve never seen at Texicon? A civilized battle among the flower of European nobility during the enlightened era of the Renaissance. You know, when that tart Countess Caterina Sforza lifted her skirts & hurled insults. Yeppers, Texicon has never had an Italian Wars game. When the French, Spanish, the Pope, the Holy Roman Emperor, the Borgias, the Medicis, & anyone else with a sword wanted a slice of Italy.

I like how you did the new female Askaras from Hinterland. I did them a French Senegalese.
Scott
Thanks, Scott. I had read where the British Askari wore khaki & then I found some references to where some units ran out of Khaki & used blue cloth for the puttees,
BTW, what animal is on the riding officer’s shoulder? Sorry I can’t tell.
She has a monkey on her back!
