Warning! This post contains photographs of Amazons. Throughout history the Amazons have been a clothing optional society and despite my best efforts, one of the young ladies refuses to cover up – SO, this post has a NSFW – Not Safe for Work rating.
The Goals
The main goal of this series of posts is to get miniatures painted. I have far too many sitting in bins waiting to be painted. There are six goals in this quest, and I probably won’t achieve them all this year, but I’m going to try.
Goals:
- Paint 100 miniatures
- Paint 300 miniatures
- Paint 500 miniatures
- Paint 800 miniatures
- Paint 1000 miniatures
- Paint 1200 miniatures
Without any more babbling, here is what was finished this week.
Goliath Ganger
Many, many years ago, I played Necromunda from Games Workshop. Of course, my main interest was (and still is) House Escher. This meant the figures in the boxed set were ignored or cannibalized for other games. Anyway, I’m always in need of figures to use as the nameless minions of the bad guy. The poses are somewhat static, but they paint up quick.

Mounted Amazon
I’m bad when it comes to painting cavalry. I get bored and put the figure away to finish later, sometimes years later. This figure is from Casting Room Miniatures, an off shoot of Wargames Foundry. These Amazons catch the feel of the Late Bronze age, but the proportions are off on some of the figures with an arm or neck being too long.

Goblins in Spaaace!
A few months ago, I found these adorable goblins from Twin Goddess Miniatures on Etsy and just had to buy them. They’re not your typical fantasy goblins, this one is a Cyberpunk badass.

Amazon Peltasts
Yes, I still have lots of Amazons to paint. These two peltasts are from Eureka Miniatures. I got them direct from Eureka in Australia before the postage rates soared some years ago.

Dwarf with Lantern
If you have OCD, then collecting miniatures might be a difficult hobby for you when it comes to miniature scale or size. Some manufactures might list their miniatures as 28mm scale, when in fact they may be 20mm, 25mm, 30mm, or even 32mm in size. This wonderful dwarf from Artisan Guild is 32mm and she is as tall as some of my 28mm Amazons. That being said, Artisan Guild’s dwarves do tend to be on the tall side even for 32mm. However, she’s a nice addition to my collection.

Stargrave Crew 2
At the start of last year, I think it was the start of last year (at my age years are beginning to run together), I purchased the Stargrave Crew and Stargrave Crew 2 boxed sets from North Star. Each set contains twenty figures, the Crew box has 20 male figures and Crew 2 has 20 female. These figures are not only great for use in Stargrave, but also 5150 New Beginnings and Five Parsecs from home. This one is number ten of the Crew 2 set.

Swashbuckler
This swashbuckler can be purchased with different weapon options. I chose the one with two swords. The figure is from Artisan Guild.

Vikings
I literally have a couple hundred Viking and Anglo-Saxon figures to finish this year. These two are from Wargames Foundry.

Viking Bondi
Wargamers tend to categorize any unarmored Viking warrior as being of the Bondi class. The Bondi were typically farmers who were part time warriors. These figures are from Artizan Design.

Summary
Not a bad start. Just hope I can keep it going for the entire year. Fourteen figures finished this week.
- 3 28mm Science Fiction figures
- 3 28mm Amazon figures
- 2 28mm Fantasy figures
- 6 28mm Medieval figures

I want to join you in your Year Painting Challenge! 😉
I find challenges and posting your results to be an excellent way of holding yourself accountable to your goals. Three years ago I painted one miniature, the next year I painted five, last year I joined several online challenges and ended up painting 158.
It’s not really a matter of quantity, but the pleasure in the process & liking the results.
Holy Moly that’s a lot of figures to paint in a year! Well for me anyway. Too band you didn’t post this today, your final line would have been so apropos on the 3rd anniversary of America’s first (and hopeful last) attempted coupe – known around my household as Insurrection Day!
Enjoyed your post as always.
This week? Where’s Billy Pink? LOL
He’s a troublemaker. He’s supposed to be painted in black leathers but has taken a liking to pink glitter – keeps mumbling he wants to release his inner Elton John.
Several years ago, when the Hobbit movies came out, I got GW’s Escape from Goblintown set of figures. I am painting the goblins. These aren’t green or black goblins, they are sort of fish belly white, presumably because they don’t get out in the sun much. So far, I have with great difficulty suppressed my desire to paint the Great Goblin of the Misty Mountains in orange tones.
Love the little Cyberpunk goblin. It would work well in the Shadowrun RPG as well as the games you often mention.
