Viking Archers

In the battles of early medieval Europe, archery is seldom mentioned unless by some fluke an important nobleman had the bad luck of being severely wounded or killed by an arrow. The main reason was that while almost anyone could use a bow, so few were skilled with it. So, the bow found its primary use as a skirmish weapon. It would be later after the return of the mounted warrior when rulers and governments would pay attention to training large numbers of archers.

I finished five archers from Wargames Foundry’s Vikings range. These are fairly well-off warriors in that they could afford mail.
