April 2025 Wrap Up

You may have noticed the lack of posts this month. That is due to many reasons, one of which is that I’m participating in a Painting League sponsored by Doug of the +2Tough YouTube channel. The painting league has pushed me to complete more figures this month than usual.

Terrain – A Sheep Pen

Summary

This month saw the completion of 30 figures and one piece of terrain bringing the total for 2025 to 115.

  • 3 – 28mm Science Fiction figure
  • 17 – 28mm Colonial Era figures
  • 4 – 28mm Old West figures
  • 55 – 28mm Medieval figures
  • 7 – 28mm Fantasy figures
  • 18 – 28mm Amazon figures
  • 7 – 28mm Animal figures
  • 4 – Terrain pieces

Well, that was April, filled with painting, thunderstorms, rain, and the first lawn mowing of the year. I’m going to try to boost the figure count in May to 40 or 50 figures and get a little gaming in as well.

Let me know how you are doing with your miniature gaming & painting. Your comments are always appreciated.

  1. I really like the sheep pen! Who makes those? One of those would be nice to have for my Viking games. One can’t just let one’s sheep run loose back then, since the last English wolf wasn’t killed until the 1680s. The eyes on your figures came out well. I’ve been fretting about my own ability to paint eyes, which seems to be going downhill lately. I vacillate between worrying about being too old to paint and thinking that I just need to get a new paint brush that doesn’t have a curved point. I only painted two figures in April, plus finishing several small terrain pieces, like tables. I also assembled and painted a battering ram. I’ve been thinking about possible small siege games, one or two shiploads of Vikings attacking a tower or fortified church. If they can’t capture it in a couple days, they would go raid somewhere else.

    1. Hi David, the sheep pen is from Reconquer Designs who specialize in medieval figures from the 11th through 14th centuries, especially the Crusades & the Reconquista of Spain.

  2. Thanks very much! I had not heard of them before.

  3. Inspirational as usual! I need to get into a Painting Challenge. Love all that you do, keep up the great work. It motivates me to paint my own horde of mini’s.
