Thank You!

Don’t freak out – it’s in English – Wendy is originally from Canada.

I do not thank you enough for taking the time to read the machinations of a crazy gaudy radioactive Floozy. This post brings to the close eleven years of blogging and without your kindness and indulgence this blog would have folded many years ago like so many other hobby blogs.

Counting this post, I have published 60 posts this year, a record for me. In my first year, I only managed four posts. For these 60 posts, I wrote over 58,000 words and took over 1,100 photos. The blog received 16,604 views so far this year as opposed to 910 eleven years ago.

Thanks to you, I’ve painted minis that have been in my pile of shame for way too long, learned to craft terrain, played new games, taken better photographs, and improved my writing skills. Why, this year was the first year I won NaNoWriMo!

I have to thank the inspiration and service I’ve received from vendors this year – long time friends at Reaper Miniatures, Metalhead Minis and Two Hour Wargames and new friends at Rebel Minis and Bad Squiddo Games.

There is one change I made this year that I’m a little unsure about – asking for material support for the blog. Sure, you can blog for free, but free blogging often means limited space, photos, and in some cases unwanted ads. So, I opted for a “premium” plan to give me editorial control over what appears on the blog and access to tools to make the blog easier to read across several platforms. It’s around two hundred dollars a year, and for many years it was just a trifle expense – but now both Floozy Manor and the floozy herself eat up more resources to stay repaired and healthy. I really, really don’t want ads on my blog. There are some sites that are absolute torture to read because of the ads and time wasted waiting for the damn ads to load on the old floozy lookity-box.

You have come through for the site, the site’s needs are modest, and you have really helped. So with your indulgence, I’d like to personally thank you all:

I hope I didn’t leave anyone out, if I did, let me know and I’ll update this post.

Post Retirement

I’ve decided to keep only ten years of posts active on the blog. All of the 2011 posts have been moved and will remove the 2012 posts as next year progresses. If you need access to those old posts, let me know.

Next Year

Next year, I hope to complete some of the stalled projects and reduce the pile of unpainted miniatures even further. With the unpredictability of COVID, it is impractical to make any travel plans, so plans for trips to visit old west sites and other points of interest will have to wait.

Until next time, the Floozy is immersed in an early Christmas present, a hardback copy of Travels in West Africa by Mary Kingsley written in 1897. There is a game supplement for Congo about Mary Kingsley titled “Mungo Mah Lobeh” – “The Throne of Thunder.” And the Floozy has the Wargames Foundry mini of Mary Kingsley in the paint queue!

  1. I am so glad you have your blog up. It has inspired me to continue painting and brought me to THWGame’s. Thank you.
