From the Painting Table 2024 – 30 April

I didn’t touch a paint brush, play a game, or do any writing for the entire month of March. I reached one of those nagging decision-making points, which will come up again, as to whether to scale everything back and move into a retirement community. For now, I’ve decided to stay put, though the thought of becoming a Buddhist nun is still somewhat appealing. Anyway, here’s what got painted in April.

Hobgoblin Cleric

My poor goblins in Zhu Paand’s band get beat up quite often, it may be time to recruit a healer into the party. This figure is from Heroforge.

Shield Maidens

Eight more shield maidens from Bad Squiddo Games join Cnut Sweynsson’s army. Hopefully it won’t be long before the Danes set sail for England.

Amazon Horse Archer

A mounted Amazpn from Castaway Miniatures of Wargames Foundry.

Le Regiment d’Infanterie de Bretagne

Some years ago, I painted the Piquet companies and Grenadier companies of the Bretagne infantry regiment for the Seven Years War. I’ve finally gotten around to painting the rest of the regiment consisting of two battalions. All figures are 10mm Pendraken.

Hanover von Brunck Regiment of Foot

Unlike the French whose infantry regiments consisted anywhere from two to six battalions, the Hanoverian infantry regiments were modeled on the British organization of only one battalion per regiment with the only exception being the Foot Guards regiment having two battalions. The figures are 10mm from Pendraken.

Summary

In the month of April, I completed 94 figures bringing my 2024 total to 183 figures.

  • 14 – 28mm Science Fiction Figures
  • 8 – 28mm Interwar Pulp Figures
  • 84 – 10mm Seven Years War Figures
  • 45 – 28mm Medieval Figures
  • 24 – 28mm Amazon Figures
  • 8 – 28mm Fantasy Figures

I also received my first figures for a mystery project:

How excited am I about a new project? I’m like this excited:

  1. I love the shield maiden with the… is that a shaved “Flock of Seagulls” haircut? (Yellow tunic, blue cross shield.)

I’ve got catching up to do! In the month of April, I primed 8 figures, bringing my 2024 total up to… 8 figures primed. It’s a start!

  2. The Amazon rider and one of the shield maidens have tufts of white flowers. These don’t look like the “flowers” I’ve seen at the store, which look like the stems were dipped in white paint and give the impression of being sort of like albino cattails. Yours look like they might have petals. I’ve been looking for lilies, and I’m wondering if these might work for me.

  3. Great work! Also, can’t wait to see what the Mystery is. You’ve inspired me to do my own Challenge. Just finished a year. Now going to start a 6 month Challenge and see how I do. Keep up the great work!
