By this time dear reader, you probably know that 99% of any fantasy Amazons contain models not wearing much clothing and some models being partially nude. So, the NSFW, Not Safe for Work, rating is appropriate.
Did you know there are Amazons in Conan’s world of Hyboria? Robert E. Howard the creator of Conan the Barbarian loved history, and he imagined his world as being the long-forgotten seeds of our world. His world has cultures reminiscent of ancient China, India, Arabia, Egypt, Scandanavia, Greece, Rome, and Africa. But his Amazons were not the Amazons of ancient Greece and Eurasia, his Amazons were modeled on the female warriors of Dahomey. Yes, the Amazons of Conan’s world were brown skinned women living between Kush and Stygia.

Most of the miniatures I’ve painted as Hyborian Amazons are from Shadowforge, now sold by Eureka Miniatures. I bought these years ago from vendors here in the States. Yep, there were several who carried Shadowforge’s ranges, but it came to a crashing halt when postal rates to and from Australia went through the roof. Shadowforge figures were now as expensive as Games Workshop figures.
Two of the figures are from other manufacturers, one from Hasslefree Miniatures and one, that’s OOP, from the I-Kore Celtos range.

Summary
Someday when I get rich, I’d like to collect the rest of Shadowforge’s Tribal Amazon range. I don’t have any of the spear women, some of the command figures and warriors mounted on wolves ala Princess Mononoke.
