I’ve found lately that painting and writing challenges help me get things done. I don’t do it for competition; I do it just to keep my tired old lazy butt moving. When I was in college, one of the many part-time jobs I had was working for a medical supply company that also rented equipment to nursing homes (some were barely legal) and the sight of lonely elderly people sitting motionless in a room with a blaring television set left an impression on me.
Anyway, the YouTube channel Big Battles, Little Worlds is doing a painting challenge for the month of November with progress check-ins on each Saturday. Here is an opportunity to make a dent in the “pile of shame” and get some figures painted. I’ve chosen to paint Darkest Africa figures as I’ve had the urge lately to play some Colonial Adventures games.
This week I focused on the Baluchi Swordsmen and Arabian Baluchi Matchlockmen packs from Wargames Foundry for a unit of sixteen figures. In addition, I rebased and repainted the Zanzibari Characters pack of seven figures.
