Finished four more of the wonderful shieldmaiden miniatures from Bad Squiddo Games. English is the only language I can speak somewhat reliably, but there are times it confuses me. The old Norse word for a female warrior is “skjaldmaer” which is translated into English as “shield maiden”, “shield-maiden”, and “shieldmaiden”. I’m not sure which is the correct form, but all three are shorter than “crazy-assed bitch who’s going to cut you”.
These figures fit well with Viking figures from Victrix and Wargames Foundry. If you play games from Two Hour Wargames, they are perfect for Great Hall Burning, Captains and Kings, Warrior Heroes Warbands, and WHAT: Warrior Heroes Adventures in Talomir. They are also ideal for other games such as Ravenfeast, SAGA, Lion Rampant, and many other games.

There is sharp-edged charm to Bad Squiddo; the shieldmaidens are a great range.
I like the Bad Squiddo shield maidens. They are female without being scantily clad or oversexualized. They look rather like ladies I’ve gone to school with or worked with. The one you painted with a red and white striped shield has frizzy, brown hair, rather like my wife (though hers has a lot of grey mixed in nowadays).
The shields are particularly nice, with the wood grain running one way in front and a different way in back, a sort of plywood effect. This prevented a single blow from splitting the shield in two.
