From the Painting Table – May 1

For the first time in a long time, I’ve felt like painting and today I finished an unit of hoplites to use in Rally Round the King from Two Hour Wargames.

This unit will be the “Strategos” (general) of the Mantinean contingent of the Argive Alliance. In Rally Round the King, the unit will serve as one of the Captains in the Argive Alliance army. The Mantinean contingent consists of four units in Rally Round the King, but you will only need two units if you play the newer To Be King ruleset.

The figures are from Victrix, Wargames Foundry, Sgt. Major Games (now sold by Thistle & Rose), and Black Tree Design (sadly out of production). Shield decals are all from Victrix & the basing material is Krautcover’s Soil of Sparta.

If you’ve missed me the last few months, I can only blame it on my stubbornness to see a Doctor. Now, I’m seeing a small army of them. In addition, my daughter makes sure she takes me to every appointment and follow their directions to the letter.
